As most of you are aware, I have found myself far from the West Coast in the bleak heart of Texas. While this state has a lot to offer, boondocking isn't really welcome here. Because of this, I am already planning my annual South West trip, and I wanted to invite some of my friends along.
If I haven’t talked your ear off about how I like to adventure, here is the skinny: First and foremost, it is an adventure so I try to always take the road less traveled. I like to camp, hike, take photos, drink, smoke, cook, cruse, stargaze, fish, swim... in a nutshell: I do what I want, when I want.
Here is what I try to avoid: hanging out in towns or cities, going out to eat, taking tours, driving on interstates and lastly, campgrounds (especially when ya gotta pay)... in a nutshell: I like to stay away from the crowds.
Aside from gas, this makes for a very affordable and fun vacation.
This trip will be starting around Bryce Canyon and move on to the Burr Trail, then through to Muley Point and Monument Valley. It is an intentionally shortish dive, packed with some of the most beautiful scenery I have seen in the South West, so there is plenty of time for recreational activities. #reclife
My plan is to use one week of my precious vacation time to get out to Utah and back. I will leave Austin late on a Friday and haul-ass Saturday-Sunday to the start point. The next five days are much more chill, exploring parks and back roads with little-to-no weekend/school crowds. By Friday evening I will be ready to haul-ass back home for work on Monday.
I am thinking 2-4 vehicles would make a pretty ideal caravan. 4x4 isn’t required, but high-clearance with a full-size spare tire is a must.
If people are interested, hit me up and I can populate this page with more helpful information.
